Commodity Conversations London 2018
June 6, 2018
Presenting Commodity Conversations, an event with a difference – an interesting and innovative conversation on the future of agricultural commodity trading.
The world’s population is forecast to exceed nine billion people by 2050. Attention is rightly being focused on how our farmers can produce enough food to feed so many mouths. The challenge is a big one. Once you add in changing diets, increasing demand for meat and (unfortunately) more waste, the world will need to produce as much food in the next 40 years as we did in the past 8,000 years.
But while attention is focused on production, little attention is being given to how all this extra food will be distributed, stored, processed, and packaged. How will we efficiently and sustainably move these vast crops from where they are produced to where they are consumed?
Can commodity merchandising companies rise to the challenge?
Commodity Conversations will ask that question at a one-day seminar on 6 June 2018 at the Natural History Museum in London. This limited attendance event will bring together top-level executives from the sector to join the conversation with international agencies and civil society. A charity cocktail party will follow the seminar.
The commodity merchandising business is already experiencing significant change in response to society’s demands for increased transparency.
