Agiboo is happy to announce that Martijn Smit has joined the company as Agiboo Sales Executive. Agiboo BV is a commodity trade and risk management (CTRM) solution provider for global agribusinesses, specializing in cocoa, sugar, coffee, cotton, ethanol, grains & oilseeds. Martijn brings decades of B2B sales experience to the team, including several years in the CTRM and ERP space, which we will be put to good use for current Agiblocks clients and potential clients.
Martijn has been working as a business-to-business liaison for decades – but his experience goes beyond all that. “As a 15-year-old, I was selling newspaper subscriptions in the streets, and have never looked back. To me, the human side of any enterprise is the most interesting part – and sales allows me to work with people both inside and outside of the company, both rewarding in their own rights.”
That early knack for and insights into his profession led Martijn to positions in both the telecom and software sector, and ultimately to the commodity trading industry.
“At the end of the day, people want to do business with people. That’s what I genuinely believe, and that’s how I want to work. Sales is not about pitching the perfect solution, or boasting about how good your product is, but about listening. By listening to clients and potential clients, and by asking questions, you can find out what’s going on, what the company needs – and how we can help to get there. To me, it would be really rewarding to look back a year with the clients I am now meeting and have them reflect on what Agiblocks has been able to do for them because of that. I look forward to it.”
Over the past few weeks, Martijn has already been visiting with clients in the Benelux and in Germany, together with Agiboo COO Mike Terning. “We are very pleased to welcome Martijn as our new sales executive”, says Mike, “as he brings extensive experience, in and outside of our industry, as well as a strong track record in driving strategic sales initiatives. Martijn will play a key role in expanding our market presence.”
